Sitting down and actually explaining the situation without explaining why the dismantlement of Uchiha power is important is surprisingly not too hard. Shikaku’s cigarette falls out of his mouth. “I need your help in abolishing the Uchiha Police Force.” Then with the air of a man resigned to a fate that was no doubt going to lead to a host of trouble, Shikaku asks, “What do you want?” He mumbles something about how he’s only going to have one. Shikaku sighs, digging into his pocket and pulling out a packet of cigarettes. “I hope you understand that whatever you are here about, I can’t disclose if it’s classified. Shikaku doesn’t say anything, leveling Kakashi with a look that says ‘clearly’. “Sure.” He is definitely doubtful but he seems to understand he won’t get more out of Kakashi. It’s not like they’ll believe he’s over a hundred years old. And if they did, they don’t exactly have any other explanation handy. Kushina-neesan taught me the basics and I learned a few things on my own.” At this point, Kakashi has no choice but to hope people take into account his genius and his company with Kushina and Jiraiya in his youth and not get too suspicious. Kakashi may trust Shikaku to do what is best for Konoha, but he can’t trust that what Shikaku thinks is best for Konoha is the same thing he does. He’s already decided that he is going to die taking the secrets of the future to the grave. “I knew you were considered a genius,” Shikaku breathes out, “but I am starting to think that title does not do you justice, kid.” Shikaku is referring to the ‘Kakashi’ that is currently with Gai, Naruto and Itachi by the river. Shikaku’s eyes meet Kakashi’s unwaveringly but his mind his moving. “Forgive me for me rudeness, Nara-sama, but I can’t let anyone know that I am here.” “I didn’t want you to,” Kakashi says simply. “I didn’t even feel you touch them,” Shikaku says, appropriately on guard now. “Well, I thought it would be better safe than sorry.” Kakashi hops off the tree, hands up non-threateningly. “No.” Shikaku gets up, dusting off his pants. He was chosen as Minato’s advisor for a reason. While he is not on par with Shikamaru’s level of genius, Kakashi knows that Shikaku is still an invaluable ally to have. Nara Shikaku is a smart man, as most Nara clanspeople are. Shikaku looks up at Kakashi with narrowed eyes, mind no doubt flitting through why Kakashi is here. Shikaku rubs a hand over his face, a muttered, “Troublesome,” barely audible. But for the very same reason you trust these woods to relax, I trust these woods to talk.” “Maa, maa, I’m sorry for sneaking in Shikaku-san. Kakashi swings his legs from where he sits on the tree. Not a lot of people know of this hiding spot. On his wrist, Kakashi sees a band of ninja wire.
“Hatake,” Shikaku greets, a disgruntled expression on his face as he stretches from his afternoon nap.
